What Jimi Agbaje Said When He Was Asked To Clarify His Defection Rumour & His Stance On Atiku’s Candidacy

For the first time in the last three consecutive elections in Lagos, former PDP Governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje will not be having his name on the ballot in 2023.

From Babtunde Fashola to Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the erudite pharmacist has been a regular contestant against the ruling party candidates in Lagos and each time he throws his hat in the ring, it usually ends in tears.

On Wednesday, it was rumoured that the serial governorship constant has defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress. The speculation was coming on the heels of his social media post that says “Eyin ko l’okan o, Nigeria l’okan”, meaning it is not your turn, it is Nigeria turn.

Featuring on the Wednesday edition of Channels TV Politics Today, Jimi Agbaje responded to the defection rumour and other nagging issues bothering on the affairs of the country politically.

According to him, he has not defected to any party, saying he remains in PDP. He said Nigerians are sensitive to social media post and what happened on Wednesday morning confirmed the downside of social media, a situation where a news maker will make a post and people will not bother to verify before misinterpreting it.

He explained that he was merely misinterpreted with his post and there is nothing like defection to other party on his part.

Speaking on Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy, Jimi Agbaje lamented the decision of PDP to jettison the rotational formula. This was not the initial bargain. If the principle of fairness, and justice should be duly followed, the South should produce the presidential candidate.

He said the two leading political parties have chosen to take a defective decision. PDP murdered regional rotation agreement while APC murdered religion balancing by settling for same Faith ticket.

He described it as completely abnormal and declared his support for the decision of Afenifere leaders to support Peter Obi of Labour Party for president.

Jimi Agbaje stated this while featuring on Wednesday edition of Channels TV Politics Today anchored by Seun Okinbaloye.
