Jonathan Opens Up On Presidential Ambition

Former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has thrown more light on the possibility of contesting the 2023 presidential election.

Jonathan who has been rumoured to be planning a defection to the ruling party and vie for its presidential ticket has maintained a dead silence on both the defection rumour and his decision to contest for the election.

On Friday morning, a group of protesters allegedly beseiged his residence in Abuja asking him to declare for president in 2023.

The group who carrried placards with various inscriptions was said to have threatened to remain in the premises and inside the sun until the former president comes out and address them on the burning issue.

After much agitation, Jonathan was said to have later come out and address them.

In his speech, the former president thanked them for their belief in him but told them he cannot declare his intention now. He expalined that some discussions bothering on whether to contest or not are still ongoing and the outcome of the discussion will determine his next line of action.

Jonathan is said to be currently meeting with stakeholders in Abuja over the 2023 presidential election.
