Ex-Italian Coach Blames Osimhen For Napoli’s Defeat To Barcelona

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has been fingered for the defeat Napoli suffered in the hands of Barcelona on Tuesday, leading to their elimination from the current UEFA Champions League.

Heaping heavy blame on the reigning African Player of the Year, the former head coach of the Italian football team, Arigo Sachi said the poor performance by the Nigerian striker caused their defeat last night.

The Serie A champions were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League following a 3-1 defeat to Xavi’s men.

Napoli lost the Round of 16 contest 4-2 on aggregate.

Osimhen scored Napoli’s solitary goal in the first leg but was outmuscled by youngster Pau Cubarsi in the reverse fixture.

The Nigeria international managed just one shot on target for the entire duration of the game.

“What surprised me the most was the little involvement of Kvara and Osimhen, the two most awaited players,” Sacchi wrote in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s true that they didn’t get much service, but at the same time, they didn’t move much and they did it in the wrong way, so it was easy for opponents to stop them.”
