FG files a 10-count charge against former SGF Babachir Lawal, Oke, others
In a move that may be interpreted as a direct response to public speculation about the possibility of selective justice in the handling of corruption allegations against certain category of persons in the country, the Federal Government has filed a 10-count charge against a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.
Also, a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke, his wife, Folashade, and three others have also been charged to court.
The defendants have been charged with alleged diversion of funds by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The EFCC has also filed a separate four-count charge against Mr Oke and his wife before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
They are charged in relation to the huge funds discovered in a private building in Ikoyi, Lagos, in 2018.
It was gathered that they will be arraigned on Friday before Justice Aneke.
