Ex-Min. Of Education, Ezekwesili Asks Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu To De-escalate Ethnic Tension In Lagos

The former minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has urged the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and govenernor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to lead a campaign against ethnic bigotry in Lagos.

Ezekwesili’s charge is coming on the heels of unprecedented hate speeches and tribal sentiments that greeted Saturday’s governorship election in Lagos State.

Some politicians have fanned the embers of ethnic division and promoted tribalism among the residents of the state so as to win the elections in their various domains.

Non Yoruba residents in Lagos were visibly harrased by political thugs sent by their paymasters and consequently disenfranchised from performing their civic duty at their different polling units.

The governorship and Houses of Assembly election conducted on Saturday have further set a wide division between Igbos and Yorubas who have been living peacefully together in Lagos State.

Based on the implication, the former minister of Education and convener of Bring Back Our Girls tasked the president-elect and the state governor to de-escalate the ethnic tension in the state.

Ezekwesili made this call on her verified twitter page on Tuesday.
