One of the nation’s leading music sensations, Tiwa Savage is 39! According to reports the leading Mavin music star turned 39, Tuesday.

Not that we forgot her birthday at @RovingNaija but we went desperately in search of memorable pictures to celebrate the birthday of a lady who has continued to dominate the music landscape in Nigeria despite her off stage challenges.

Some facts you dont know about Tiwa Savage

She was born Tiwatope Savage on February 5, 1980, in Lagos State.

Tiwa Savage relocated with her parents to the United Kingdom when she was just 11 years old.

She participated in The X Factor UK in 2006 but didn’t go beyond the final 24.

Tiwa Savage studied music at the Berklee College of Music where she graduated in 2007 at the age of 27.

At age 16, she had performed backup vocals for singers like George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Blu Cantrell. Chaka Khan, Ms. Dynamite and Andrea Bocelli.

She joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records in 2012.

Tiwa has one son named Jamil Balogun.

Tiwa Savage signed an international management and distribution deal with Roc Nation in July 2016, becoming the first Nigerian to do so.
