Police rescue Samuel Kanu’s mother from Kidnappers

Madam Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu, mother of Super Eagles and Bordeaux of France player, Samuel Kalu, has been rescued after a week in kidnapper’s den.

The news was confirmed, Tuesday by the spokesperson for Abia State Police Command, Godfrey Ogbonna.

Mr Ogbonna said she was released close to midnight on Monday.

It was not clear if any ransom was paid before her release

It could be recalled that Kalu had earlier appealed to the yet-to-be-identified gunmen, who abducted his mother to free her so that the family can have peace again.

Confirming the news, Mr. Ogbonna said, “She was released around midnight (2300 GMT) of Monday and she has been reunited with her people, circumstances surrounding her release have not been disclosed to me for now.”

“But we are still investigating the incident in a bid to ensure that those who carried out the act are arrested and brought to book.”
