What Gov. Fintiri, Former Gov. Mimiko Said After Atiku & Wike’s Delegations Met In Port Harcourt

The much talked about meeting between the representatives of the candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and that of Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike did not seem to have produced the expected result on Friday.

The two groups met in Port Harcourt to discuss the way forward on the lingering face off between the two party leaders.

The meeting which was held behind closed doors at Governor Wike’s residence had in attendance the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who led Atiku’s delegation while Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo State led that of Wike’s delegation.

Aside Fintiri, other representatives from Atiku’s camp include Hon. Adamu Waziri and former Ondo governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Those on Governor Wike’s team were former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoki; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State; former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke; former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko and former Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo.

Immediately after the meeting, Governor Fintiri while addressing Journalists, said there is hope that the committee will achieve the needed peace and unity in the party.

The governor believed that the crisis will soon be resolved and the party will take its rightful place in the Nigerian political space.

On his part, former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko said there is need to hold more of that meeting to address some specific issues that are causing disaffection among the members.

Mimiko is of the opinion that not much has been achieved with the Friday meeting and there is need to schedule subsequent meetings so as to get to the root of the matter and settle the differences once and for all.
