What Former President Jonathan Said After Arriving In Kenya To Monitor Presidential Election

Former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan is currently in Kenya where he is billed to monitor the ongoing presidential election in the country.

Kenyans have reportedly trooped out on Tuesday to elect their new leader following the tenure of the current president which will be coming to an end in a few months time.

Former president Jonathan who has been saddled with the responsibilities of international relations and several diplomatic assignments within the continent of Africa since he left office, is one of the international figures who will be monitoring the election.

He arrived the country on Tuesday amidst a rousing welcome at the City of Nairobi. He disclosed that he was in the country to observe voting procedures in some polling stations in Nairobi, Kenya.

While revealing his mission in Kenya on his verified Facebook and Twitter account which was published by Punch Newspaper, Jonathan said:

“Election day in Kenya. We set out at dawn as members of the Election Observation Mission of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA)

“As the good people of Kenya come out today to cast their ballots across the country, we look forward to a peaceful outcome and the strengthening of democracy in the Republic of Kenya. GEJ”

The former president stated this on his Twitter account.

Former president Goodluck Jonathan caught international attention following his decision to willingly accept defeat in 2015 general election in Nigeria even before the final result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He was defeated by the then APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari in a tension-soaked presidential election.

Since his exit from from the Aso Rock, he has remained a major international figure across the continent of Africa.
