Armed bandits attack Zamfara market, cart away goods and cash

Marketers in Bingi village of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have alleged that gunmen suspected to be armed robbers stormed the market on Tuesday afternoon and held the marketers to ransom.

According to eyewitness accounts, the armed robbers came to the market with different vehicles for their nefarious operation, saying that nobody was killed in the operation.

Our sources noted that even though no life was lost, goods, items and cash were catered away as no security operative was near to confront the notorious armed robbers.Advertisement

According to one Ahmad Bingi, the security operatives hardly go on patrol until the worst is done, stressing that even if they are sent on patrol, they always sit down in one place while innocent citizens are dying in the hands of armed bandits on daily basis.

” The security agencies in the state are so careless because they are not placed on constant training and are not given adequate logistics and sophisticated weapons, ” the villagers lamented.Advertisement

But when contacted on the phone, the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Muhammad Shehu told DAILY POST to give him some minutes to confirm from the DPO Maru Divisional police headquarters.

When he finally called back, he noted that the information was not exactly so.
