Agency report

In a bid to ensure a smooth transition of power from his government to the incoming administration in the State, the Governor of Lagos Mr Akinwunmi Ambode inaugurated a 20-man transition committee.

The committee was inaugurated on his behalf, Tuesday in Ikeja by its co-Chairman and Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello,.

Ambode said the committee was organised to maintain stability, build on solid foundation of the state and ensure seamless transition to the incoming administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by the Governor-elect, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

In his response, APC Deputy Governor-elect and Co-Chairman of the Committee, Dr Hamzat assured that the handover would be a seamless one.

Earlier in his welcome address, Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola described the transition as a result of the success of the APC in the last elections.

Muri-Okunola said that on May 29, the baton of leadership of the state would be handed over to a new administration, hence the need for a transition committee.
