WTO Boss, Okonjo Iweala congratulates women on IWD

The Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has congratulated women all over the world on the celebration of International Women Day (IWD).

The former Nigerian minister of Finance and first female and black race to head the WTO, dropped the message on her twitter handle. She said, “Happy International Women’s Day to all my amazing sisters in the world!”

She however called on the men to strike a balance as far as gender equality is concerned. “To the men you too can strike a blow for gender equality,” she called.

Mrs Okonjo said she is happy to celebrate her first IWD with men and women of WTO looking at means of reducing the impact of Covid – 19 pandemic especially on women and bringing lasting solution.

“Happy to spend my first IWD with women and men of the WTO focusing on impact of the pandemic on women and how trade and investment can bring solutions,” she affirmed.
