Pastor Who Asked Members To Pay N310,000 Ticket Fee To Heaven Charged To Court

Pastor Noah Abraham Adelegan of Christ High Commission, who asked his members to pay a sum of three hundred and ten thousand naira to make heaven has been arraigned at Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

The cleric had on April 27 told his members that he could take them to heaven before rapture takes place, saying Omuo-Ekiti is the gateway to heaven. He reportedly told them that all they needed to do was to pay the amount as ticket fee.

After the payment, Adelegan allegedly took them from Kaduna to a camp in Omuo-Ekiti where they were said to have lodged for their next flight to heaven.

The bubble however burst when the Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna state chapter declared that they had no knowledge of the pastor neither do they have an idea of the existence of his Church in Kaduna state. They warned his members and other christians alike to beware of fraudulent pastors like him.

A search party was launched against him which led to his arrest at the camp. He was consequently charged to court on Monday by inspector Johnson Okunade.

The charge read in part: “That you Pastor Noah Abraham Adelegan on 27th April, at Omuo Oke-Ekiti in Omuo Magisterial District, did by false pretense and intent to defraud, presented yourself to your congregation at Christ High Commission Ministry, Omuo, Oke-Ekiti, as capable of taking them to heaven before rapture upon payment of money ranging from N300,000 to N310,000 each.”

The prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, said the offence contravened Section 416 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2012.

Counsel to the defendant, Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant his client bail, adding that he was ready to provide reliable sureties.

Inspector Okunade did not oppose the application but asked the court to exercise its discretion in granting or refusing the bail.

Magistrate Titilola Olaolorun granted bail to the defendant in the sum N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and  adjourned the case to May 24.
