CBN Governor Vows To Deal With POS Operators Over Exorbitant Charges 

POS Operators across the country have been tagged as accomplices in the fraud that has greeted the introduction of cashless policy of the central bank of Nigeria.

The Apex Bank Governor, Godwin Emiefele has however vowed to deal with them ruthlessly over what is regarded as an unpatriotic behaviour by the operators.

Emiefele made this known while briefing the media in Abuja on Monday about the development and gains of the policy since it was introduced into the economic system.

According to the governor, the policy has been able to address inflation rate and its positive effect is becoming glaring by the day. Nigerians however need to exercise some patience for the policy to take its full effect.

Emiefele, who said there is no going back over the February 10 deadline despite the Supereme Court judgement, appealed to the foreign diplomats and Nigerians who have been inconvenienced through the transition process of the cashless policy and assured them it will be appreciated in the long run.

He however vowed to deal with Point of Sales operators who decided to cash-in on the opportunity of naira scarcity to charge exorbitant prices for their services.

It was gathered that some POS Operators charge as high as 2,000 naira on customers who intend to withdraw 5,000 naira.

This has been a major complain by Nigerians who have become victims of the inordinate charges by pos Operators.

The decision of the CBN governor to deal with the operators has however ignited reactions from Nigerians.
