Breaking News: #EndSARS Reloaded gathers steam on social media as govt deploys security agents

The organisers of the #EndSARS protest made good their promise to stage another round of protests in the country to force government to accede to its demands. However, the protests are largely on social media platforms as the government has deployed security men in strategic areas of the country.

At the Lekki toll gate which was the epicenter of the last protests, reports reaching RovingNaija indicate that security personnel comprising policemen and soldiers were deployed around midnight, Sunday, in strategic locations to check mate the protesters.

The deployment of security personnel follows persistent statements by some police commissioners including Lagos and cross River state that another round of protest will not be tolerated given that the last protests held earlier in October was hijacked by hoodlums which led to loss of lives and destruction of property.

According to tweets and videos monitored by RovingNaija, the protesters are demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state should resign and be arraigned before the international Criminal Court, ICC, for crimes against humanity over the alleged killing of protesters in Lekki during the first phase of the protest in October.

They are also demanding that government should release all protesters in custody and unfreeze the account of their sponsors among others.

To add bite to their promise to stage protests in Lagos, Abuja, Delta, Port Harcourt and Bayelsa, the protesters are currently heating up their campaign largely with tweets and rebroadcast of old videos as it seems the ground may be too hot for them to step on in some parts of the country. But fresh reports indicate that the protest is ongoing in some parts of Abuja, the FCT, according to a video not independently verified by RovingNaija.
