National Human Right Commission (NHRC) Kebbi state has keyed in to #16DaysOfActivism against Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in commemoration with the International Day on Elimination of Violence against women and girls.
In a tweet by the commission, blaming victims of rape and other SGBV creates a culture of fear on women and girls.The tweet read, “Perpetrators must be named and shamed for their actions, this way we show accountability and #EndSGBVinNigeria.
“For the first time ever in Nigeria, the NHRC is having a Public Hearing on SGBV to bring accountability and provide succor to victims.”
Rovimgnaija reports that NHRC working with @globalspotlight initiative, @OSIWA1 & @AbujaDiscourse has also set up a call centre as a key action to bring accountability in SGBV response and have victims or survivors speak out.
