Buratai urges troops to fight on despite ICC, Amnesty International threats
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Yusuf Tukur Buratai has urged Nigerian troops fighting Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) not to relent in their fight against the terrorist groups despite threats coming from International Criminal Court (ICC) and Amnesty International (Nigeria).
Buratai made this call on Saturday using the twitter handle @HQNigerianArmy where he said Nigerian troop should not be demoralised.
He advised members of the troop not to be intimidated by threat of investigation being issued by the Criminal Court.
This advice is coming on the heel of security situation where no fewer than 54 students were declared missing after gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was learnt that the bandits had operated at the Kankara town where they abducted some people before finally invading the boarding school at about 10:00 pm on Friday.
