Napoli clears the air on Osimhen injury

Victor Osimhen may be back in action for Napoli before the Christmas break, the latest update from his Italian club suggests.

There have been a series of reports suggesting all has not been well with the 21-year old in his rehabilitation drive.

However, Napoli’s head of medical staff Raffaele Canonico has cleared the air; adding that Osimhen is on track for recovery

“Osimhen is doing well and improving day by day. There is no mystery, it is not an exceptional case. At Villa Stuart, we had a consultation with Prof. Castagna, who has a diagnosis of Nigerian medical staff confirmed,” Canonico told Radio Goal.

“I clarify that it is the first traumatic event on the boy’s shoulder: there is no recurrence. It is the first time that he has this type of injury on his right shoulder. On the left, he had already had an injury.

“I congratulate my Nigerian colleagues because their speed in the clinical intervention approach was really sudden and of a high level. For Osimhen it was a dislocation that does not require surgery.

” Every injury has a story of its own. It ranges from 30-40 days to 60-70 days for a simple dislocation. The therapy works are used to restore total functionality, to the creation of a joint protection.

“The physiotherapists and the trainers are doing a job at the highest level. He is a boy of 21 years and the psychological aspect that intervenes in the response to the injury must also be understood.

“When will we see him on the pitch? He is improving significantly. I hope to see him on the pitch before the Christmas break.”

Osimhen has been sidelined for more than a month after suffering a dislocated shoulder while representing Nigerian in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.

RovingNaija reports that the former Lille striker has scored two goals and provided one assist from six Serie A appearances in the 2020-21 season.
