NWFL: Rivers Angel coach ready for crunch clash against Delta Queens

Chief Coach of Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt, Regina Akaraonye believes Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership tie against Delta Queens will be a stiff game but she remains hopeful of a win.

Having started off on shaky note with a point on the road in their opening league game in Lokoja, the defending Champions are now aiming for a total victory as they welcome the Okowa Ladies in a Match Day 2 game in Port Harcourt.

According to Akaraonye, a win over Delta Queens will boost the confidence of her side as they continue in this season’s campaign.

“What I expect is a win because it will boost our confidence going forward,” she began.

“Every coach actually wants to win and that is what we intend to get on Wednesday.”

Having met Delta Queens twice last season in what had some sort of controversies in both legs, Akaraonye expects nothing less than a difficult contest.

“It has always been like a fight whenever we face each other on the pitch.

“All I know is that we are going to be confronting them in a nice way and you’ll get to see the outcome by the end of 90 minutes,” Akaraonye added.

It will interest you to know that the Jewel Of Rivers acquired the services of two Delta Queens’ influential playmakers, Maryann Ezenagu and Ikekhua Oghenebrume and both would likely be making the lineup against their former team.

While Rivers Angels drew 1-1 against Confluence Queens in the last Matchday, the Okowa Ladies thrashed Dream Stars Ladies 4-1.

The venue for Wednesday’s encounter is inside the University Of Port Harcourt Sports Institute and the kickoff is 4 pm.
