COVID-19 Scare: Ganduje orders closure of BUK, other institutions in Kano

Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has ordered immediate closure of Bayero University Kano (BUK) and other tertiary institutions in the state.
With no specific reason for his action, the announcement came barely 24-hours after the state government ordered the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, “All students are advised to vacate the campuses from Wednesday, 16/12/2020.The state government however urged students to continue revising their lessons while at home.
As at the time of writing this report, the reason for the closure is still unknown though there is speculation that it may not be unconnected to the second wave of COVID-19.
