October 20, 2020 is a day millions of Nigerian youths will never forget.
It was a day a historic fight to end police brutality was brought to a bloody climax when men of the Nigerian army shot at peaceful protesters who had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate for days.
Many people were shot dead, with many others injured, and some gone missing. The outcome of that military action was the setting ablaze of some government-owned facility by angry hoodlums.
Ever since the 2020 incident, some youths make it a duty to honour the death of their comrades who lost their lives, as a memorial.
For the 2022 memorial, they gathered at the same venue – the now symbolic Lekki Toll Gate – where military shot at peaceful protesters on October 20, 2020.
Musician Falz and comedian Mr Macaroni were the celebrities and human right activists seen at the venue on Thursday.
