NPFL: Enyimba ends Kano Pillars’ unbeaten run

The unbeaten run being enjoyed by Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Professional Football League has been halted by Enyimba International.

Enyimba on Sunday at their Aba home ground pipped Pillars 2-1 to move up to the fifth spot on the NPFL log with one game still outstanding.

First-half goals from Anayo Iwuala in the  21st minute and another from Gabriel Orok in the 38th minute sealed victory for Fatai Osho’s men.

Though Fahad Usman scored a well-taken free-kick for Pillars in the 86th minute it was not enough to save them from the jaws of defeat.

Enyimba now have three wins in three home games this season and already breathing down the neck of table-toppers Rivers United who in their own game thumped Heartland 3-1 at the Adokiye Amaesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

In some of the other games played in the NPFL on Sunday, there were away points for Rangers International, Abia Warriors and Kwara United in their respective matches.

While the Flying Antelopes and Abia Warriors recorded identical 1-1 draws against MFM FC and FCIU in Lagos and Nnewi respectively, Kwara United played a barren draw against Jigawa Golden Stars in Kaduna.
