Community decries sabotage of constituency project in Offa
A community, near Anilelerin L.G.E.A Primary School in Essa constituency has lamented the act of vandalism on borehole water project allotted to the area by a member of Kwara State House of Representatives.
Honourable Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf popularly known as JK, a member representing Eesa, Shaawo and Igboodun constituency has gone to the Primary school with a plan to renovate some dilapudated classrooms there.
According to reports, the Headmistress of the school had pleaded with Hon. Gbenga to assist also in the area of water as the pupils resort to drinking unclean water from different unclean sources.
Reports had it that, Hon. Abdulwaheed granted the request by adding borehole project to the classroom project. The borehole which is expected to serve the whole of the community is the first of its kind in the area.
Speaking for the people of the community, an elderly woman, Mulikat Oseni said there was plan to fetch water from the tank on Tuesday but this was not to be, as they woke up and met a vandalised tank with the water spilled all over the ground.
Cursing the vandals, Mulikat said, the whole of the area lack clean water with the local wells drying up especially now that it is dry season. “I usually go to fetch water very early in the morning, today, I slept longer with the hope that I will fetch clean water from the tank only to wake up to see a vandalised tank.”

Also at the scene was a community leader, Alhaji Prince Moshood Oyeleke who condemned the act in totality. He was surprised as he said Offa is only known for healthy competition not sabotaging each other’s effort at development.
According to an eye witness, plumbers were still working on the water project as at 6:00 pm on Monday, with plan of concluding the work, enabling pupils and people of the neighbourhood access to clean water.
Obviously infuriated, Hon. Jare Olatundun called for caution alleging the hands of some desperate politicians in the act.
He said with respect to incessant name calling on radio programs by some Offa politicians, there is possibility of resorting to sabotage of works being done by serious and dedicated ones.
Hon. Jare however called on elders of Offa local government to live up to expectation by calling certain characters in the community to order. He said, “Offa is known for high level of education and decorum, why have some people decided to go against development by fighting a working Governor and washing their dirty linens outside?”
