NPFL Round-Up: Enyimba climb top spot with away win
Enyimba are now top on the Nigeria Professional Football League table after they secured one of the two away wins recorded among the matchday eight games played on Wednesday.
The Peoples’ Elephant were gifted the lead in Lafia courtesy of Abdullahi Abubakar’s 16th-minute own goal but Chinedu Ohanachom restored parity for the hosts four minutes afterwards.
Nasarwa United shot themselves in the foot again when they conceded a penalty on the half-hour mark and it was expertly taken and scored by Cyril Olisema.
While the Solid Miners pushed hard for another equaliser, they were denied by the stout defensive display by Enyimba.
With the three points that came with Wednesday’s slim win Lafia, coach Fatai Osho’s men have climbed to the top spot on the NPFL standings.
Enyimba have 18 points from 8 games.
Akwa United also got an away win in their game against Adamawa United have they have moved up to the 9th spot on the NPFL log with 12 points from eight games.
