Hospital Workers Steal Baby’s Placenta, Claim Dog Entered Premises, Carried It 

Three persons working at Emure-Ile Comprehensive Health Center in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been arrested in connection with the theft of a new born baby’s placenta.

Family of the new baby raised alarm after the hospital workers failed to hand over the placenta.

Days after the family raised the alarm, three persons in connection with the disappearance of the placenta were arrested while the issue lingered without any hope of retrieving it.

The family is now appealing to relevant government agencies to ensure justice is served on the suspects.

The couple had waited 9 months before  they finally welcomed a bouncing baby Girl on June 15 at the comprehensive health center in Emure Ile, in Owo Local Government Area of the State.

However, the Joy that usually comes with the birth of a new baby is still missing as family members and neighbours are in sad mood over the missing placenta of the baby.

The 23 year-old, Father, Tunde Ijanusi and 19 year-old Mother of the child, Joy who explained what transpired, said they are worried over the medical personnel’s failure to give them the placenta of their new born after the delivery.

Mrs Funmilayo Ijanusi, paternal grandmother of the baby said the hospital officials claimed that a dog entered the facility and carted away the placenta.

She added that the hospital personnel also persuaded the family to let go of the matter.
