Breaking News: Military Aircraft Crashes in Abuja, all seven occupants reported dead

A Nigerian Air Force NAF201 jet, a B350 aircraft, which departed Abuja at 1033UTC with six persons on board, including two crew, has crashed at the Abuja Airport.

All six persons on board are reported dead.

The aircraft was said to have reported engine failure at 1039 and crashed landed on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22 at time 1048UTC.
Fire services are already at the scene of the accident.

Defence Headquarters Releases Names Of Officers Involved In Crashed  Military Aircraft

More facts has emerged from the Defense Headquarters as it released names of five of the seven victims involved in the military aircraft that crashed in Abuja earlier today as a result of failed engine.

According to the military, the pilot called for emergency landing but couldn’t make it to the airport and according to an eye witnesses report, the pilot made spirited efforts to land the aircraft safely but failed.

The aircraft was said to by carrying seven military officers onboard. Killing all seven passengers.

The Defence Ministry has released five of the seven names onboard the crashed military aircraft. They are: Flt Lt Gazama, Flt Lt Piyo, Flg Offr OkparaFS Olawumi, ACM Johnson and the two others names yet to be released by the Defence Headquarters.

Earlier on Sunday, the nation was in shock when the crash was confirmed by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who wrote on his twitter handle that “A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal, We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any.
