Enyimba Football Club have booked their place in the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage after beating hard-fighting Rivers United 5-4 on penalties on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant had a slim 1-0 advantage going into Sunday’s second leg but Rivers United through their dangerman Fortune Ominiwari cancelled it out.
At 1-1 aggregate scoreline, the fierce encounter at the Adokiye Amaesimaka stadium was to be decided via the lottery of penalty kicks and it was two-time African champions Enyimba who prevailed 5-4.
Enyimba will get to know their group opponent when the draw is conducted on Monday, while for Rivers United, they would have to switch their focus back to the NPFL and see whether they can win that one.
