Election is currently underway in Ekiti state as people troup out enmass to elect their new governor.

Going by the report coming out from the Land of Honour, it appears the same old story of votes buying is repeating itself in some places within the state.

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Engr. Segun Oni has accused other parties of trying to monetize the election. Oni spoke to Journalists shortly after casting his votes in his ward at Ifaki local government area of the state.

According to him, the reports he is getting from agents across the state show that the election has been heavily monetized by other political parties. He alleged that votes are being bought in some parts of the state.

Parts of the places he identified include Ado Ekiti, Oye Ekiti and some other locations. The governorship candidate however said they have captured those areas and they are waiting for the outcome of results in those places before taking necessary action.

Oni is one of the leading candidates contesting the election to succeed Dr. Kayode Fayemi whose tenure will end by October this year.

Among the contestants include Biodun Oyebanji of APC, Bisi Kolawole of PDP and about 14 others.
