Rivers United have wielded the big stick on two of their most expensive signings, Theophilus Afelokai and defender Ifeanyi Anaemena.
The two players made the switch from Enyimba to Rivers United in a highly publicised fashion.
However, what initially looked like a sweet romance has now gone sour with the indefinite suspension order on the duo.
The short statement released by Rivers United and obtained by Roving Naija read: “The management of Rivers United FC has handed goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokai and defender Ifeanyi Anaemena an indefinite suspension for unethical & unprofessional sportsman conduct.”
“The indefinite suspension takes immediate effect pending the outcome of an investigation on the matter.” the statement added.
For now, both Afelokai and Anaemena have declined comments on their suspension.
