How I Escaped Death After Receiving N10m Gift From Governor- Boxer
The Current WBF Super-featherweight champion Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola has opened up on the chilling details of his recent near-death experience in the hands of unknown gunmen.
As reported by Fighting Gist, Oyekola escaped death from unknown gunmen following an attack on his vehicle after he was honoured with a 10 Million Naira Cheque for winning his world title fight.
It was gathered that Oyekola was attacked by unknown gunmen after he was presented with the cheque at the Oyo State Government Secretariat on Thursday evening.
The boxer won the WBF title against the Argentina opponent Luca Matias Montesino on 27th of December, 2020 at Ilaji Hotel & sport resort in Akanran, Ibadan.
As it is often said, only a single step separates one from life and death and Oyekola has shared his near-death experience after been discharged from the hospital in Ibadan, where he was admitted for treatment.
He said it was the grace of Gods that made him escape death with the other two occupants in his Vehicle on Thursday 4th of March, 2020.
According to Oyekola, “As we left the Government Secretariat, the venue of cheque presentation, I wanted to drop a friend that accompanied me to the event at Mokola, I just saw a vehicle accosted us along NTA to Total Garden area and the two men were pointing guns at us and ordering us to stop. I was shocked and swayed the car to escape them but fell into a ditch. The assailant drove off after noticing that we’ve fallen off from the road”.
The other occupants with Oyekola in the vehicle were the current National Bantam weight Champion Habeeb ‘Ige’ Oladeji and a friend Adesina Sheriff but neither sustained serious injuries except for Oyekola who suffered shock, but has been discharge from the hospital.
