President Buhari welcomes defecting Gbenga Daniel and Dimeji Bankole to APC

President Muhammadu Buhari has formally welcomed a former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and an ex Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The two defecting politicians, who were formerly of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) were received by President Buhari at the State House in Abuja, the FCT on Monday.

The two decampees were at the State House in company with the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Boni who doubles as the Chairman of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC, Governor Muhammed Badaru of Jigawa State and Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State..

It would be recalled that Gbenga Daniel governed Ogun State for two terms (2003 – 2011) while Honourable Dimeji Bankole served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2007-2011. Both Leaders from Ogun State did not enjoy the best of relationships while with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
