Benin Vs Nigeria: Two Players Test Positive For Coronavirus
Ahead of the eagerly-anticipated Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between the Benin Republic and Nigeria, the hosts have been hit with the bad news that two unnamed players have been excluded after having tested positive to coronavirus.
The Squirrels’ coach, Michel Dussuyer who broke the news said initially, it was just a player that was hit by Covid-19; the player later infected another one.
According to the coach, “samples have been taken.” Consequently and owing to health restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the two players are already isolated as recommended by health authorities.
It is possible another player may have been infected. “We are waiting for the result of a third test to perhaps give the name of the player”, local news outlet, La Nouvelle Tribune quoted Michel Dussuyer as saying.
The Squirrels are looking to preserve their eight-year unbeaten run at home when they take on the Super Eagles in their penultimate game in the qualifying series.
Benin Republic who against all odds made it to the quarter-final in their last outing at the 2019 AFCON will be looking to at least qualify for the next edition in Cameroon
