Atiku Abubakar is part of Nigeria’s problem – Femi Adesina
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina has accused ex vice-president Atiku Abubakar as being part of the leadership that bequeathed the deplorable economic situation currently bedeviling the country.
Mr. Adesina who was a guest on Channels Television’s flagship programme, Sunday Politics, spoke in response to an earlier statement by Atiku Abubakar that 30 million Nigerians are currently unemployed.
It would be recalled in an interview with Bloomberg Business on Saturday, Alhaji Atiku said that he was vindicated by the report from the foreign news medium that Nigeria is on the verge of emerging as the nation with the highest unemployment rate in the world at 33%.
But speaking on behalf of the Presidency, Mr. Adesina retorted that Atiku Abubakar, who was in government for eight years with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, failed to deliver on some projects that could have improved the economic situation of the country.
With specific reference to power, Mr. Adesina said that some people benefited from money running into trillions of Naira and did not deliver just as the government failed to fulfill some promised made to Nigerians as pre-election campaign gimmick.
He said the former vice-president is not in any position to sit in judgement over anybody since he was part of the people who brought the country to its current state it found itself.
