Access to gas a major boost to manufacturing sector – Otunba Adebayo
The minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo says that sustainable access to gas is significant in Nigeria’s quest to make the manufacturing sector a key driver in job creation for the nation’s youths.
Otunba made this known at the pre-summit virtual conference of the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit on Decade of Gas Mandate on Monday in Abuja.
The Minister who was represented by his Technical Adviser, Kamal Bakrin, said gas could become a source of competitive advantage for Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
Adebayo emphasised the need to harness the potential that gas presented for Nigeria’s industrialisation while adding that gas has the potential to become a source of competitive for the nation’s manufacturing sector.
he also said that gas has a great part to play in placing Nigeria as the choice destination hub for manufacturing in the African continent.
“This is especially important as we implement measures that can leapfrog us to the front of the line as the destination for manufacturing for the rest of Africa,” he said.
The minister said that an affordable source of gas is catalyst for achieving the vision for the manufacturing sector to become a source of foreign exchange for the country and the channel for long-term economic security.
He hinted that his ministry has been in discussions with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in considering ways to improve the availability and cost of gas for the manufacturing sector.
