Nigeria Airforce releases names of missing pilots

The Nigerian Airforce (NAF) has released the names of the pilots onboard the Alpha Jet Aircraft which went missing on Wednesday in Bono State.

The Nigerian air force jet (NAF475) which was supporting ground troops fighting Boko Haram terrorists in northeast Borno city went missing on Wednesday.

According to a statement on Friday by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabwet, the missing officers are Flight Lieutenant John Abolarinwa and Flight Lieutenant Ebiakpo Chapele.

The statement read that intelligence report by NAF indicates that the Jet went off the radar with the two crew members on board on 31 March, 2020, an indication that it might have crashed.

The statement further read that the search for the aircraft through an extensive search and rescue efforts are currently ongoing and there is still hope that the pilots would be located.

The search and rescue team comprise NAF surveillance aircraft, NAF Special Forces and member so the Nigerian Army.
