Dr Saraki congratulates Taofeek Arapaja as new South-west PDP Chairman
The immediate past Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Taofeek Arapaja for his victory at the South-west Congress of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) where he emerged at the Zonal Chairman of the Party.
Arapaja, the endorsed candidate of the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, defeated Eddy Olafeso, the candidate of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose by 343 to 330 votes in the congress held on Monday in Oshogbo, Osun State.
Saraki also congratulated all the new zonal executives, the leaders and stakeholders of the PDP which he described as “our great party” for the successful conclusion of the South-West Zonal Congresses.
He said: “As you all prepare to embark on your respective assignments in the zonal EXCO, I wish you all the best. It is my hope that you will all continue to work towards the ongoing reformation and repositioning of our great party.”
In a series of tweets on his official twitter handle, Dr. Saraki enjoined members of the PDP to work for the good of the party.
“As we continue to work reposition our great party ahead of the 2023 General Elections, earlier today, alongside other delegates from the North Central Zone, I voted in the Zonal Congresses.
“I congratulate Theophilus Shan who was returned unopposed as the North Central Zonal Chairman. I also congratulate all our new Zonal executives. As the new executives work to strengthen our party in the zone, they have our full support moving forward!” he said.
