Group asks US Embassy to investigate Pantami for terrorism
A group, Concerned Nigerians, on Friday, wrote to the US Ambassador in Nigeria, asking it to investigate the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, for hardliners comments in the media credited to him.
According to the letter signed by Comrade Deji Adeyanju, the group specifically referred to a comment wherein the minister was quoted saying that he is always happy when unbelievers are killed by terrorist groups.
The statement also referred the Embassy to past statements where Pantami openly supported global terrorist groups such as Al- Qaeda and Taliban.
Pantami was also slated for openly supporting Osana Bin Laden, who he described as a hero and better Muslim than himself.
“He has not renounced these views in the face of new revelations from the media.
“His views are extremist and a threat to a multi-religious nstion like Nigeria,” the statement read.
The group further stated that it is of the view that a senior member of the President Buhari administration that is an open supporter of Mullah Omar and Osama Bin Laden should not be allowed to hold a sensitive position and be in charge of the database of Nigerians.
It further expressed doubt that President Buhari will not be inclined to act against the Minister.
“We are confident that Mr. Pantami will not resign or be sacked despite the public outcry because the President is drawn to men like him,” it stated.
It therefore called on the US Government to investigate the allegations and permanently place Pantami on its terror watchlist if the allegations are found to be true.
It concluded by stating that those who hold extremist views remain a threat to world peace as they support the massmurder of both Christians and Muslims globally; adding that terrorists dont repent as they are only looking for an oppoirtunity to get closer to power so they can strike harder,” the letter read.
