Ada Jesus, the Comedienne dies at 24

The hand of death strolled past the Nigerian Entertainment Industry on Wednesday and took along with it a bedridden young Comedienne, nicknamed Ada Jesus.

Her death was confirmed by Harrison Gwamnishu, a close confidant on his Instagram handle on Wednesday afternoon.

Ada Jesus, real name Mercy Nmesoma Nnadi, died of complications from Kidney failure at an Abuja hospital where she had long checked in to receive treatment.

Her death, just two days after few friends gathered to mark her 24th birthday on her sick bed in Abuja, is coming as a shock to the industry.

It would be recalled that in a recent interview with the BBC Pidgin, Ada had revealed that she has been down with kidney failure, a disease she has had to cope with for over a year. she said her stomach and her face started to swell up as a result of the disease and she could hardly walk due to her dwindling strength.

She also said that her Doctor later informed her that succor would come her way if only she could make it to India for a kidney transplant.

The option of India as the destination of hope led to a spirited effort by friends and loved ones to raise the required money for her trip and subsequent kidney transplant but as fate would have it, she died just when it was looking like help  was only a breath away.

Although controversial while alive, many would be hopeful that her real or perceived enemies will be gracious enough to let her finally rest in peace.
