President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the families and friends of the remaining 27 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna, who were kidnapped about two months ago.

He also appealed for the release of the students of Greenfield University and all other citizens held in captivity.

It would be recalled that RovingNaija reported that the Students of the College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, who had been in captivity for 55 days, were released on Wednesday in less than 24 hours after their parents and family members staged a protest at the National Assembly, Abuja on Tuesday.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday night in Abuja, President Buhari welcomed their release and congratulated the friends, families and government of Kaduna State on the happy ending to the sad development.

“We are happy they have been released. We express our deep appreciation to all the actors who contributed one way or the other to this happy outcome, in particular the defence and security agencies, the officials of the Ministry of Environment and the government of Kaduna State.

President Buhari thanked Nigerians for the prayers just as he called for vigilance and security awareness from Nigerians and security agencies.
