Sanwo-Olu launches 500 alternative vehicles to replace Okada in Lagos

The Lagos State government has launched 500 units of its new commercial transport vehicles in the state. Called the First and Last Mile (FLM) Buses, the new means of transport is the state’s solution to the use of Motorcycles popularly called Okada in Lagos.

According to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the FLM will improve the lives of Lagosians as a replacement for Okadas which are not part of the transport masterplan for the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the new initiative is to improve and guarantee the security of lives and property in the state.

“The goal is for a full implementation of a safer and more efficient alternative means of transportation,” he said

He said the buses are better alternatives to motorcycles on Okada-restricted routes while adding that the state has already injected 100 High and Medium capacity buses for standard routes.

He added that the introduction of the FLM buses is a prelude to the full enforcement of the restriction placed on the use of Okada as means of transport in some parts of the state.
