Villarreal Beat Man United In Europa League Final

Samuel Chukwueze and his Villarreal teammates have emerged champions of the Europa League after beating Manchester United 11-10 on penalties.

Chukwueze could not play in Wednesday’s final but his teammates got the job done; denying Ole Gunnar Solksjaer his first silverware as United manager and further affirming Unai Emery as the Europa League master.

Manchester United have lost six of their last seven penalty shootouts in all competitions, beating only Rochdale in a third round League Cup tie in September 2019 during this period.

Manchester United suffered Europa League final heartache on Wednesday evening as Villarreal won the trophy courtesy of an incredible 11-10 victory in the penalty shootout.

The two teams could not be separated at the end of 120 minutes, as Edinson Cavani’s second-half effort cancelled out a close-range finish from Gerard Moreno.

However, a high-quality penalty shootout ended when David de Gea saw his effort saved by opposing goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, who had just arrowed one into the top corner of the net.

The Villarreal victory is being celebrated by many Nigerians who are happy for Samuel Chukwueze.
