Nollywood actress Rachel Oniga is dead
This is not the best of time for the entertainment industry in Nigeria especially the Nollywood arm where yet another death has been recorded.
Veteran Nollywood actress Rachel Oniga is the latest casualty following her death Friday night at the age of 64.
The Lagos State Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rising already confirmed the sad development even though he admitted to being shocked by what appears to be a ‘sudden death’
He said, “We just got the news early morning today. We have nothing to say than to give glory to God for a life well spent.”
“I got the news this morning, I have been down and surprised.”
Findings by Roving Naija suggest the Late Oniga may have died from COVID-19 complications but that cannot be authenticated at the moment.
On their part, Goldmynetv, which shared the news on Instagram, revealed that the veteran actress had only a few days ago, shot some scenes in a movie in Mowe, Ogun State, before her demise on Friday night.
Oniga featured in scores of Nollywood movies —both English and Yoruba— before her demise.
Born on May 23, 1957; the delectable actress began her career in 1993. Her first movie was the blockbuster, Onome, while her debut movie in the Yoruba speaking sector of the film industry was Owo Blow.
