Security Agents Repel Attack By A Gang Of Armed Bandits in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigerian Police says it has deterred a group of armed bandits in their hundreds from attacking Shinkafi town in Shinkafi local government area of the state.

In a statement issued in Gusau the state capital on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, said the attack was repelled by a team made up of police tactical operatives and other security agencies

SP Shehu said the bandits, who were from the camp of a notorious kingpin of named Turji”, were heavily engaged in a gun duel by the joint security forces stationed in Shinkafi.

He said that at the end of the hour-long gun battle, one of the bandits was fatally injured, while others escaped with possible bullet wounds,” the PPRO said.

The commissioner of police in the state, Ayuba Elkanah, has since called for reinforcement and more firepower to tackle the existing security arrangements.

He commended the operatives for their professionalism and efforts in arresting the situation.
