Europa League: Osimhen, Onuachu Scores In First Group Game
The Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu were both on target for their respective clubs in the first group game of the Europa League on Thursday.
Onuachu gave his team a late victory in their away tie at the Allianz Stadion as he struck deep into stoppage time to help Genk to a 1-0 win over Rapid Vienna.
Onuachu’s crucial goal in the 92nd minute came after he was set up by Junya Ito to hand the Belgian Pro League side all three points in the Group H encounter.
At the King Power Stadium, Osimhen proved his big money status again as he scored the two goals that saw Napoli hold Leicester City to a 2-2 draw.
The Foxes had taken a two-goal lead with Kelechi Iheanacho providing the assist for the second for the host.
However, Osimhen reduced Leicester City’s lead in the 67th minute before completing the comeback in the 87th minute.
Aside from failing to win with his team, Wilfred Ndidi received a red card for two bookable offences during the four-goal thriller.
It was worse for the Super Eagles duo of Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo suffered a 2-0 home defeat against French club, Lyon.
At the RZD Arena, substitute Faustino Anjorin was on target in Locomotiv Moscow’s 1-1 home draw against
French club Olympic Marseille.
In another Group H encounter played at the MCH Arena, Raphael Onyedika put up a fine performance in Midtylland’s 1-1 home draw against Bulgarian club Ludogorets.
Onyedika, who was in action for 90 minutes in the game was cautioned in the 85th minute.
