EPL Chelsea fall against Man City, Villa stun Man United

The Manchester teams in the Premier League had contrasting fortunes on Saturday as City stormed to a crucial away win against Chelsea while United were stunned 1-0 by Aston Villa at the Old Trafford.

This development meant the unbeaten run enjoyed by Chelsea and Manchester United in the English Premier League this season has been halted.

In the day’s simultaneous early kick offs at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, the Blues and Red Devils were condemned to lone goal defeats respectively.

In tie decided in London, Man City got revenge for their Champions League final loss to Chelsea; snatching a big three points from Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Gabriel Jesus’ deflected effort eight minutes into the second-half separated the sides, but City should have been more convincing winners going by their numerous chances and overall better play.

That nonetheless, Pep Guardiola’s side would be happy to have finally broken off the grip; losing to Chelsea three times towards the end of last season.

The most painful coming in Porto in the Champions League final.

Though forced to respond after the setback, Chelsea were much more positive as the game opened up but City stood firm to pick maximum point from a difficult ground.

On their part, Manchester United were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Aston Villa on Saturday as Bruno Fernandes missed a stoppage-time penalty in their Premier League clash.

With the game petering out to a goalless draw, Kortney Hause headed home in the 88th minute to seal the victory for the visitors
