Fresh Crisis Rock PDP As Seven Key Members Resign

The crisis plaguing the country’s top opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party has assumed a frightening dimension with some top members already walking out on the party.

Roving Naija gathered there was tension in the air at the Wadata House, National Secretariat of the PDP on Tuesday following the resignation of seven members of the party’s National Working Committee.

While the PDP National Organising Secretary, Colonel Austin Akobundu (retd), confirmed the resignation on Tuesday but did not go into details.

It was gathered that the officials complained about what they referred to as “an unpleasant working environment”.

Those who resigned include the deputy national financial secretary, the deputy legal adviser, the deputy national auditor, the deputy national publicity secretary, the deputy women leader and the deputy organising secretary.

Before this latest setback, the PDP has been hit by a wave of defections, especially of some of its governors in the last three months.

Governors David Umahi (Ebonyi), Ben Ayade (Cross River), and Bello Matawalle (Zamfara) have all left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
