The Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Police says it has arrested two suspects over the murder of Dr Chike Akunyili, husband to a former minister of information Prof Dora Akunyili.
Also, the police say they are on the hunt for those who set ablaze houses of Joe Igbokwe, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Drainage and Water Resources, and former Minister of Finance, Dr Chu Okongwu.
The two buildings were burnt on Sunday in Otolo, Nnewi.
During the Nnewi attack two persons were killed including a third-year Medical Laboratory student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Police Commissioner Tony Olofu did not mention the arrests, but a senior police source told the Nation that four persons were arrested, but two were released after proper investigation.
“Anambra command will not rest until those behind these attacks, killings and arsons are exposed,” the source said
Olofu and some senior officers have visited the scene of recent attacks in the state including the DSS Office in Nnewi and the residences of Igbokwe and Okongwu.
