World Cup Qualifiers: Super Eagles suffer shock defeat in Lagos

For the first time in 40 years, the Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a defeat in a World Cup qualifying match in Lagos on Thursday.

The three-time African champions were beaten 1-0 by little known Central African Republic.

The visitors profited off a miscalculation between William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun, which left Karl Namnganda to fire his shot past goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

The Super Eagles dominated all through the game but they could not make their dominance count.

Liberia has three points from three matches to put them at the bottom of the group.
