Fury Retains WBC Heavyweight Title With 11th Round TKO Win Over Wilder

British Boxer, Tyson Fury, on Sunday at the T-Mobile Arena, Nevada, retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) World Heavy weight title with an 11th round TKO win over former champion Deontay Wilder in an epic encounter.
In 11 rounds of pulsating action, the like of which has not been seen in recent times in the heavyweight rank.

Both fighters came in with one sole mission: to annihilate the other, but Fury proved the more confident and better prepared fighter, winning eight out of ten rounds before the referee stopped the fight in the 11th round after a vicious left hook followed by a right hand cross floored Wilder.

Wilder had his moments in the fight, winning the first round and knocking down his opponent twice in the fourth. But he failed to finish off the fight at the opportune round and that proved his greatest undoing on the night.

The Knockout

Stunned by the derring-do of his American opponent, Fury revved the engine and never took his legs off the pedal as he won the next six rounds on the score cards before ending the fight in clinical fashion in the eleventh round.
So dominant in the fight, Fury scored two knock downs of his own: first in the third and later in the 10th round before going for the kill in the 11th.

As predicted again by RovingNaija, a Nigerian based news website with special focus on sport, the fight was Tyson Fury’s to win or lose and he chose the former with style, consistency, focus and uncommon display of boxing prowess.

With the victory, Fury cements his supremacy over the former champion and puts himself next in line for a possible unification bout with Ukrainian Olexandr Usyk, should Anthony Joshua fail in his rematch against the WBA, IBF and IBO champion in the 2022 rematch.

For Deontay Wilder, his future in boxing looks bleak. He is unlikely to get another high profile fight against Fury, AJ will be too busy looking to restore his lost belts against more worthy opponents and Usyk, for now, would rather concentrate on retaining his belts and taking up more lucrative fights.

To be clear, its going to be a long wait in the wilderness before the Bronze Bomber gets another shot at a world title. How he handles this long hiatus from the limelight will determine how his career unravels in the months and years to come.
