First Super Eagles goal excites Leon Balogun
Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has great delight with his first-ever goal for the Nigeria national team.
The centre-back opened the scoring for the Eagles just before the half-hour mark in Sunday’s 2-0, win against the Central African Republic at the Stade Omnisports, Japoma, Douala.
Balogun who plays his club football with Glasgow Rangers was making his 40th appearance for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s encounter and he made it a memorable one when he volleyed home after a superb cross from Chidozie Awaziem.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen scored Nigeria’s second goal late in the first half.
“My first goal in seven years! I have been looking forward so much for it and I am happy it finally came, and on a day like this,” The Rangers of Scotland defender said after the game.
Balogun was in the Nigeria squad to the last World Cup in Russia and he would be hoping to make it to Qatar before signing out on the Eagles.
